Farmers demand revival of sugar mill

Tan Taran: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Jamhoori Kisan Sabha, Punjab staged a protest in front of the District Administrative Complex (DAC) demanding the revival of the Sheron cooperative sugar mill, reports Tribune India.

Addressing the protesters, Manjit Singh Baggu, district unit head of the orgnaisation demanded the revival of the closed cooperative sugar mill, Sheron and the government should provide compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre for the damage of crops due to floods.”

Farmers have also demanded action against Lauhuka Sugars (wine mill) for water and air pollution.
