Farmers demand to increase sugarcane price at Rs 450 per quintal

Bilgram, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union Awadh staged a demonstration outside the Tehsil office demanding increasing the Sugarcane Advisory Price (SAP) to Rs 450 per quintal.

To address the problems of the farmers, a memorandum was submitted to
the SDM AP Shrivastava addressed to the President.

State leaders Shyamu Shukla and Mayank Singh Chauhan said that the farmers are feeling cheated by the agricultural laws that have been implemented by the government. The government should withdraw all three laws or amend them.

They urged the government to increase SAP to Rs 450 per quintal and asked the government to ensure that the sugar mills clear the cane dues to the farmers within 14 days of crushing their cane.
