Farmers demand to start Shakumbari sugar mill

Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers have threatened to take ‘Samadhi’ in the premises of the Shakumbari sugar mill if the government fails to start the sugar mill which is closed from last many years. The farmers under the banner of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Lokshakti) have staged a demonstration at the gate of the sugar mill on Tuesday to press for their demand.

According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, District unit head of the organization Sonu Choudhary said, “The farmers in the jurisdiction of the sugar mill are under financial stress due to the closure of the sugar mill.
