Fight against coronavirus: Iran lifts ban on ethanol import

Baku, Azerbaijan: Iran has lifted a ban on ethanol import to strengthen the fight against coronavirus.

The decision has been taken as the Ministry of Health and Medical Education has mentioned the requirement of disinfectants.

Saeed Abbaspour, the director general of the Exports and Imports Regulations Department at Ministry of Industries, Mining, and Trade said, “The manufacturing companies can import any quantity of ethanol to produce disinfectants.”

As per media reports, The Central Bank will provide the necessary amount of foreign currency and do the needful to import ethanol. Iran on Wednesday reported its single biggest jump in fatalities from the coronavirus as another 147 people died, raising the country’s overall death toll to 1,135.
