Goa government sets up committee to aid cane farmers

Panaji: Goa government has formed a Sugarcane Farmers Facilitation Committee that will assist sugarcane farmers and recommend the measures to be taken to resolve the problems related to Sugar factory based in Dharbandora.

According to the news report published in The Times of India, the Farmers Facilitation Committee will be a 23-member committee headed by Narendra Sawaikar, former South Goa member of parliament

The committee includes Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar who is at the forefront fighting for farmers’ rights, former Sanguem MLA Subhash Phal Desai, president of the Sugarcane Farmers Association Rajendra Dessai, former minister Ramesh Tawadkar and others.
