Goa government working on starting new sugar factory within 2 years: Minister

Goa government is working on a plan to set up a new sugar factory in two years, said state’s Agriculture Minister Babu Kavlekar. He also said that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured that the Sanjivani sugar factory will not be closed.

Recently, after unable to get a clear indication from the state government over the fate of the factory, the sugarcane farmers from Sanguem area formed a committee under the banner of Sanjivani Bachao Samiti.

According to President Samiti’s President Bostiao Simoes,”We will continue to hold meetings with sugarcane farmers across the state to make them aware of the ground realities regarding sugar factory.”
