“Government committed to the welfare of sugarcane workers”

Aurangabad: Maharashtra government is taking several steps for the benefit of sugarcane workers.

Dr. Prashant Naranware, Social Welfare Commissioner said that the corporation is committed to solve the problems of sugarcane workers and their rights.

The government has set up a state-level office of Loknete Gopinath Munde Sugarcane Workers Welfare Corporation at Pune to help sugarcane farmers resolve their issues.

He was speaking at a meeting organized at the Social Welfare Office in Aurangabad.

The Commissioner also interacted with the sugarcane workers’ Unions in Aurangabad to get acquainted with the problems the workers are facing and what the department can do to address them.

During the interaction, the workers raised the issues they are facing due to the mukadams and sugarcane transporters and demanded appropriate action against them.

Naranware assured them that these issues will be included in the policy decision and the government will implement a policy for the betterment of sugarcane workers.
