Haryana CM lashes out at Amarinder Singh over sugarcane price issue

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar attacked the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for not addressing the issue of sugarcane farmers in Punjab.

Referring to the hike in the State Agreed Price (SAP) for sugarcane crop, he asked why Punjab felt the need to match Haryana only after an agitation by farmers?

In his tweet, he said, “Haryana has been paying the highest MSP in the country for sugarcane to its farmers for the last 7 years. Why has Punjab felt the need to match Haryana only after an agitation by farmers?”

Sugarcane farmers in Punjab had launched agitation last week demanding a hike in SAP equaling that of what the Haryana government pays to the farmers in its state.
