Haryana: Karnal sugar mill leads in sugarcane crushing

Karnal: The Karnal Cooperative Sugar Mill in Haryana has emerged as the leading mill in the state in terms of both cane crushing and payment settlement by December 19, reported Amar Ujala.

To date, the sugar mill has crushed 11.37 lakh quintals of sugarcane, yielding 93,520 quintals of sugar. Additionally, the mill has generated 18 KW of electricity at its level. The mill has supplied 2,642,448 kWh to the North Haryana Development Corporation, earning a revenue of 1.12 crore rupees, indicative of the mill’s positive financial trajectory. In the upcoming crushing season, the mill plans to install an ethanol plant.

For farmers delivering sugarcane to the mill, provisions have been made for overnight accommodation and meals in the farmer canteen, where cleanliness and park maintenance are prioritized. Considering the winter season, heaters have also been arranged within the canteen. The sugarcane crushing season has incorporated an online token system, allowing farmers to conveniently submit their tokens from the comfort of their homes. This innovative approach has significantly reduced the time spent by farmers at the mill, from the previous 10 to 12 hours to a mere one to three hours for depositing their sugarcane and returning home.
