Haryana: Palwal sugar mill resumes sugarcane crushing operations

Palwal: Palwal sugar mill resumed operations on Tuesday evening after a nine-day closure due to a technical fault in the machines, reported Live Hindustan.

The mill was closed on November 20 after a blast in the turbine, which caused extensive damage.

Engineers made several attempts to repair the turbine machine, but it was too badly damaged. The mill management then ordered a new motor and panel from Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr and Chennai, respectively.

After the new motor and panel were installed, the mill was able to resume operations on Tuesday evening.

The farmers have expressed concern that the mill’s old machinery is a major cause of the frequent breakdowns. They have demanded that the mill management properly inspect the machines before starting operations each year to prevent such incidents in the future.

“The government is trying to double farmers’ income, but the frequent breakdowns of the Palwal sugar mill are causing them huge losses,” said a farmer. “The mill management should take responsibility for the losses caused to farmers.”

Palwal Sugar Mill Chief Engineer Vijaypal Singh said that the turbine machine that was damaged was very old. “We have installed a new motor and panel, and the mill is now running smoothly,” he said.
