Haryana’s cooperative sugar mills to be conferred national level award

Chandigarh: Two sugar mills in Haryana have been selected for an award in technical efficiency. Cooperative sugar mill, Karnal has been selected for an award for excellent development in the field of sugarcane processing and awarded first prize for the same. The second prize has been given to the Cooperative Sugar Mill, Kaithal for efficiency in technical efficiency.

Banwari Lal, state cooperative minister said, “These mills will be conferred with the awards at the National-Level Award Distribution Ceremony that will be held in Vadodara (Gujarat) on March 27 and 28.”

The ceremony has been organised by the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills, New Delhi.

All the cooperative sugar mills have purchased 263.20 lakh quintal of sugarcane worth Rs 920.80 crore by March 2, he said. These mills have paid Rs 474.44 crore to the cane farmers. The government has also made available the financial assistance of Rs 137.51 crore for the mills for the crushing season 2020-21.
