Indian firm to set up sugar mill in Tanzania

Dar Es Salaam: According to the local media reports in Tanzania, Indian investor- Purandare Industries (T) Ltd is working on a plant to set up sugar plant at Dabalo Ward in Chamwino district in the country’s capital Dodoma.

Angella Kairuk, the minister of state, investment visited the site where the investor has planned to set up industry and welcomed the decision. Satish Purandare, managing director of the firm explained her the details about the project and progress done so far.

Kairuk said, “India is still an important trade and investment partner of Tanzania.” Earlier, President John Magufuli invited more Indian investors to come and set up businesses in the country.

Speaking to a media in Tanzania, Purandare said, “Operations at the factory is likely to start by June 2021.”

“The factory is located around 80 km away from the city in Chamwino District. We are planning to sign a contract with sugarcane growers in the region to get a supply of raw material,” he further added.
