Jaggery makers procuring cane at lower rate: Sugarcane farmers

Yamunanagar, Haryana: Jaggery makers are exploiting us by procuring cane at less price than the state advisory price (SAP), allege the sugarcane farmers, reports Tribune India.

Farmers have demanded the government make a policy for jaggery units so that they would not exploit farmers by procuring cane at lesser rates than SAP.

The government had last year fixed the SAP of sugarcane at Rs 362 per quintal and is yet to fix the SAP for this season.

A complaint in this regard has been lodged on the CM Window portal by the farmer leader Satpal Kaushik stating that the jaggery makers are exploiting farmers.
