Jharkhand aims to emerge as key hub for ethanol production

Ranchi: Samridhi Organic Pvt Ltd plans to invest Rs 600 crore to set up an ethanol plant in Jharkhand.

Speaking during the two-day investor conference held in New Delhi, Vinay Tripathi of New Samridhi Organic Private Ltd said that his company and the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) will jointly set up the ethanol plant in the state.

Interacting with Chief Minister Hemant Soren, he urged for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the state government to continue a joint venture with GAIL. Industry Secretary Puja Singhal assured him that for this, he will meet the Director of Industries and take immediate initiative.

Addressing investors, CM said that the state will soon come out with new sector specific policies to attract investment and emerge as a key hub for manufacture of electric vehicles and ethanol production.

To promote ethanol production, the state is also working on Jharkhand ethanol policy.

The central government with an aim to lower the expenditure on foreign exchange has set a target of blending 20 per cent ethanol with petrol by 2025. The roadmap for ethanol blending in India 2020-25 was released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 5 this year on the occasion of World Environment Day.
