Mines and Geology Minister Murugesh Nirani said that to boost the development in the Kalaburagi district, the Israel model of farming would be implemented in all the talukas of the district. The Israel model emphasizes on high production with limited resources.
“We are planning to implement the Israel model of farming on 100 acres in each taluk of Kalaburagi district on a pilot basis. Israel uses advanced technology for achieving high productivity using limited resources. We can expand to other areas after assessing the results,” he said while talking to mediapersons at the Aiwan-e-Shahi Guest House in Kalaburagi on Tuesday.
“The farmers from neighbouring Vijayapura district have shifted to sugarcane cultivation using Krishna river water through Almatti reservoir. I am planning to take select farmers from the Kalaburagi district to Vijayapura so that they can have first-hand knowledge, learn from the experience of successful farmers and implement them back in Kalaburagi,” he further added.
