Karnataka: Congress leader opposes leasing out MySugar factory

Political parties are in the field to oppose leasing out the MySugar factory to private companies. After JD(S), now Congress is asking the government to run the sugar factory in the interest of sugarcane farmers, and not give it in the hand of the private sector.

KPCC president D.K. Shivakumar, in a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, urged that government should run the factory. He reminded that the CM had assured the Legislative Assembly that the government would not lease out any government-owned factories to the private players.”

Recently, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy met Yediyurappa on the same issue and requested him not to permit leasing the factory to private companies.

Kumaraswamy had stated, “The CM has assured me that he will not permit the factory to go into private hands.”
