Karnataka: Demand to raise sugarcane FRP

Hubbali, Karnataka: Like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states, cane dues are also pending in Karnataka. Farmers claim that many sugar mills have not paid the cane arrears. Karnataka Rajya Raita Sangha and Hasiru Sene urged the government to immediately take steps to get pending bills paid to farmers.

Farmers are also demanding to raise the sugarcane purchase price. Addressing presspersons here on Tuesday, State president of KRRS and Hasiru Sene Badagalapur Nagendra requested the government to fix FRP of Rs 3,500 per tonne of sugarcane immediately.

He also opposed the ordinance issued by the State government for giving effect to the new amendments to the Land Reforms Act
