Karnataka: Farmers demand higher sugarcane price

Mysuru: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha will be protesting at the office of the Mandya deputy commissioner to mark the farmer’s protest against the state government on February 23, said Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha state president Badagalapura Nagendra, reports The Times of India.

The government must fix RS 4,500 per tonne of sugarcane and farmers are demanding a fixing of State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane, he said.

He has also threatened to launch an indefinite hunger protest for their demand.

Farmers would launch protests against the leaders whenever they would participate in election rallies, he said.
