Karnataka: Farmers launch an agitation to demand hike in sugarcane price

Mysore, Karnataka: Sugarcane farmers have launched an agitation demanding the higher rate for their sugarcane crops stating that the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) declared by the government is not sufficient. The farmers under the banner of Karnataka Sugarcane Growers Association launched an agitation in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner to press for their demand.

According to the media reports, the farmers warned of intensifying their protest if the Government fails to come to the rescue of sugarcane growers, by forcing sugar factories to clear their pending arrears.

Farmers withdrew their agitation after additional deputy commission ADC Manjunath Swamy assured them to address their demands.
