Kenya to hold sugar conference to boost sugar sector

Kakamega will be organizing a sugar conference to help reform the sugar sector in the region, said Governor Fernandes Barasa, reports Kbc.

There is a need to reform the sugar sector amid the suspension of the sugarcane milling for the next four months, he said.

Citing the example of Mumias Sugar Company, he said that the sugar mills in Lake Region Economic Block (LREB) countries are struggling for the last few months.

Kakamega is the home of the well-known Mumias Sugar company.
