Kolhapur District Collector orders sugar mills to setup Covid-care centers with immediate effect

ChiniMandi Kolhapur : With the surge in the number of cases in Kolhapur District, collector Daulat Desai has passed an order notifying every sugar mill in the district to set up a 100 oxygenated beds Covid care center. In a meeting on Sunday with the presence of State health minister Rajesh Tope, the decision was made to enhance covid facilities through sugar mills. Millers have also been asked to ensure that the facilities are made available at the earliest possible along with the needful facilities for groups of sugarcane harvesting workers which would be setting their feet in mills.

The district till August 8,2020 has reported a total of 10439 Covid positive cases. According to reports the positivity rate of cases in Kolhapur is around 35 percent which is the highest in Maharashtra state. Health minister Tope has asked the local administration to increase the number of tests and tracing of those in contact with the cases detected positive.
