With the advancement in crushing season, mills in Kolhapur region recorded around 100 lakh quintal sugar production. The region has also registered maximum sugar recovery rate in the state.
As per the data released by the sugar commissionerate, the mills in Kolhapur till December 19, 2021, have produced 99.33 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 92.22 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.77 per cent.
As per the commissionerate, total of 186 sugar mills including 94 cooperative mills and 92 private mills are operating as of now and have produced 352.8 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 371.49 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.47 per cent.
Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum (43) sugar mills participating in the cane crushing operations this season.
