Kolhapur records 12 per cent sugar recovery

Kolhapur: The 2020-21 sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra has entered its last stage as sugar mills across the state are closing their operations.

According to the Sugarcane commissionerate, till March 5, 25 sugar mills from the Solapur division and 2 sugar mills from the Kolhapur division have stopped crushing operations. Total 32 sugar mills from the state have ended operations so far.

Kolhapur division is ahead in the cane recovery with a 12% rate. As per the data from the sugar commissionerate, the division has recorded an 11.88% recovery till March 5, 2020.

Total 187 sugar mills in the state that took part in the crushing operations have achieved a recovery rate of 10.34%. The sugar mills in the state have produced 884.40 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 854.93 lakh tonne sugarcane.
