Maharashtra: Beneficiaries of public distribution system to get sugar at subsidized rate

Mumbai: With Diwali in mind, the Maharashtra government has decided to distribute 1 kg sugar at a subsidized rate of Rs 20 per kg. As many as 7 crore beneficiaries of the public distribution system covered under the National Food Security Act will be benefited.

According to the news report published in freepressjournal.in, Food and Civil Supply Minister Chhagan Bhujbal said, “The government has taken a decision with Diwali in mind. There are 1.60 crore green ration cardholders covering 7 crore beneficiaries under the Antyodaya Scheme and the Priority Household People.”

“We are working 24X7 to ensure that the sugar reached at PDS shops so that these ration cardholders could get the sugar on time ahead of Diwali festival,” he further added.
