Maharashtra: Sugar mills in Ahmednagar and Aurangabad continue cane crushing operations

Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra is at the final phase. Out of 190, only 6 sugar mills are continuing the crushing operations.

According to the report from the sugar commissionerate, sugar mills from Kolhapur, Pune, Solapur, Nanded, Amaravati and Nagpur division have ended the season. Whereas few sugar mills from Ahmednagar and Aurangabad are still operating.

In Ahmednagar, 26 sugar mills had participated in the crushing operations and so far 24 mills have closed their crushing activities while in Aurangabad out of 22 sugar mills that participated in crushing operations 18 have closed their operations.

The sugar mills in Maharashtra have produced 1061.42 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 1011.53 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.49 per cent.
