Syllad: Border security forces in Meghalaya have stopped an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of sugar near the India-Bangladesh border in South Garo Hills district, reports Syllad.com.
Acting on a tip-off, personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted a white Eco Van loaded with sugar. The vehicle was seized after the driver failed to provide valid documents for the consignment.
The driver, an Indian national, was taken into custody, and both the vehicle and the goods were handed over to Baghmara police for further investigation.
BSF officials said they remain focused on preventing illegal activities along the border and will continue to keep a close watch to stop smuggling and other crimes in the area.
