Millers to face action if they fail to clear cane dues

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: District Magistrate Ramakand Pandey warned the sugar mill officials that strict action will be taken against the mills if they delay in clearing cane payment. He was speaking at a meeting convened in a camp office that was attended by the officials from sugar mills.

According to the report published in Amar Ujala, DM said, “More than half period is over since starting cane crushing but farmers are yet to get their payments. The mills should initiate the payment process else we will take strict action against them.”

He said that now farmers will prepare sowing sugarcane in the field. In such a situation, they need money. Farmers should be paid from the money received from selling sugar and molasses.

District sugarcane officer Yashpal Singh said that the administration will soon initiate action against the mills that fail to pay cane dues on time.
