Mohiuddinpur sugar mill starts operations, relief for sugarcane farmers

Meerut: Mohiuddinpur sugar mill will start operations after 35 days, reports Amar Ujala.

The mill stopped operations last month after a fire broke out in the mill and the repair work has been going on since then. An engineer was killed in the accident. Government officials had given ten days for the mill to repair and start operations but it took 35 days to resume operations.

Farmers were eagerly waiting to start the mill as they had to clear cane crops and take wheat cultivation.

After the mill stopped operations, farmers diverted their cane to other mills. To date, the mill has crushed 8 lakh quintal sugarcane and now with full swing, the mill would crush the available cane in the region.
