Mysuru: DC holds meeting with sugarcane farmers

Mysore, Karnataka: Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri has assured the sugarcane farmers that she will send a report to the government regarding revision of the cane price. She held a meeting with sugarcane farmers to discuss their issues at her office here on Tuesday.

According to the news report published in starofmysore.com, DC asked officials to stop cane arrival from neighbouring districts and urge mills to crush the cane that is more than 14 months old. She asked the officials to ensure that the millers follow the orders.

State Sugarcane Growers Association President Kurubur Shantakumar said, “We told the DC that the sugar millers are not coming forward for cutting cane that is 15-16 months old. It is ideal to cut the cane after 12 months. Factories are paying less than the price fixed by the government.”

The DC assured farmers that all the issues will be resolved.
