New sugar mill to be set up in Bijnor

Bijnor: The district, known as the sugar bowl of the north, is all set to get one more sugar mill, said district cane officer, Prabhu Narayan Singh, reports The Times of India.

He stated that a new sugarcane mill will be set up in Changipur village of the district. The Bindal group is constructing the mill on 300 bighas of agricultural land by spending Rs 630 crore.

Jitendra Kumar Malik, general manager of the mill said, “The sugar mill and distillery are being set up in Changipur village of the Noorpur area. The crushing capacity of the mill will be one lakh quintals of cane per day. Apart from this, the distillery unit will produce ethanol and the plant is expected to start operations from October 15, this year.”

Nine sugar mills are operating in the district including one cooperative and the rest are all in the private sector at present.
