Bhagwanpur: Trouble is refusing to die down for Iqbalpur sugar mill. Farmers who gave sugarcane to the mill are in big trouble as, despite agitation by them many times, the mill failed to clear the cane dues.
In a bid to collect fund to pay arrears, auction of molasses was decided, but bidders stayed away from it stating high price of molasses. Now, another bidding will be held on November 1.
In spite of assurance from Uttarakhand government that all cane dues would be cleared by September 30, sugarcane farmers have yet not received the sugarcane arrears. Earlier, the government attempted to auction mill’s sugar but failed to attract the buyers due to the stringent bidding rules.
