NSI catering services to foreign sugar industry

Kanpur: The National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur has got a technical consultancy contracts over Rs two crores from Indian overseas clients for the present sugar season., reports The Times of India.

Prof Narendra Mohan, director of the NSI said, “We are getting consultancy requests from several organizations like Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation for setting up of ethanol plants and modernizing their existing sugar units. The way the institute is getting requests from the industry, the amount may increase further in the coming months. We have also received a request from a sugar giant of Karnataka to undertake a general check-up of their sugar and bio-energy units.”

We are providing technical support to many plants and helping them to boost ethanol production, he said.

“For the first time, the institute is providing its services to the sugar industry of three countries–Kenya, Nigeria and Indonesia, which besides adding to the revenue generation is giving international fame,” the director was quoted as saying to TOI.
