NSI releases manual on ‘Efficient Operation of Sugar Factories’

Kanpur: In order to facilitate accident free and efficient operation of the sugar factories, a manual on “Efficient Operation of Sugar Factories” prepared by National Sugar Institute, Kanpur was released by Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director today wherein faculty members of Sugar Technology & Sugar Engineering disciplines were also present.

During the last couple years, sugar industry has seen few serious accidents due to man and machine failures. The technology is fast changing and the operating staff is required to have proper knowledge about “Standard Operating Procedures”. As no comprehensive manual was available, we worked on developing the same from sugarcane unloading to sugar storage and the same is going to help sugar industry in improving its working and avoiding any mishaps, he said.

As in most of the sugar factories operators employed understand Hindi, the manual has been prepared initially in Hindi but as we have large number of sugar units in Maharashtra and Karnataka, its versions in Marathi and Kannada will follow, said Mrs. Mallika Dwivedi, Assistant Director (Rajbhasha).

Shri Jitendra Singh, Consultant extended thanks particularly to U.P. Sugar Factories Federation Ltd. and staff of National Sugar Institute, in general, for their efforts in bringing out the publication.
