Pakistan: Govt to monitor sugar transportation to prevent smuggling

Lahore, Pakistan: Taking steps to keep a check on the smuggling of the sweetener, the government has decided to monitor sugar transportation routes at exits and also inspect the godowns of the dealers, reports tribune.

The orders have been issued by the caretaker chief minister Mohsin Naqvi to check the increase in prices and prevent smuggling. He asked the officials to take steps to check the artificial hikes in the prices.

He issued instructions to the concerned officials in the meeting convened to review the situation in the region.

There is no shortage of sugar in the state and surplus sugar is available in the market, he said.
