Pakistan imports sugar at high price

Karachi: The federal government has looted the nation by importing sugar at a high rate, said Shazia Atta Marri, Central Information Secretary Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and a member of the National Assembly.

According to the Pakistani media report, she issued a statement stating that the government has imported sugar at a high rate of around Rs 123 per kg which has incurred loss to the national exchequer.

She alleged that the Imran Khan government is taking steps to make his financial facilitator rich by selling sugar at Rs 85 per kg to utility stores. Shazia questioned the government that had all the sugar mills in the country closed? that the people are forced to purchase the sugar at such a high rate in the domestic market.
