Pakistan sugar mills reject sugar prices fixed by govt

Rejecting the ex-mill and retail price of sugar fixed by the federal government, the Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PSMA) has challenged the government’s decision in the Appellate Committee.

The sources stated that the mill owners think that they cannot sell sugar at less than Rs 100 whose production cost is Rs 115-120 per kg. They have stated that they would move to court if the Appellate Committee rejects their appeal.

Following the 30% rise in retail sugar prices within a week, the government fixed the retail price of sweeteners at Rs 98.82 per kg.
