Pakistan: Sugarcane commissioner warns action against millers for delay in cane payments

Lahore, Pakistan: Pakistan’s Punjab sugarcane commissioner has warned the sugar millers to clear the cane bills and issued notices to 25 sugar mills for the delay in cane payments. The action against them has been taken under section 21 of the Punjab Sugar Factories (Control) Act, 1950.

He has asked the millers to furnish detailed data of the sugarcane purchased from the farmers and payments made to them by November 27. The legal action will be taken against the millers if they fail to do so.

According to the local media report, Zaman Wattoo, Cane commissioner, said that the government is committed for the welfare of the farmers and is taking steps in this regard. The recent step is proof of this.
