Jalandhar: The leaders of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Doaba, have announced their plan to gherao the Phagwara SDM’s office in protest of over Rs 43 crore in unpaid sugarcane dues for the past five years, reports Tribune India.
SDM Jai Inder Singh recently issued a notice to sugar mill owners to vacate the properties, with the auction process poised to commence.
However, members of BKU, Doaba, led by President Manjit S Rai, have expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of this action.
