Philippines: Smuggled sugar seized at Manila port

Manila: The Bureau Of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday has seized eight shipping containers of smuggled sugar at a port of Manila. BOC issued a statement stating that the sugar worth P 4.4 million was seized from containers that were declared to carry steel coils.

The consignment arrived from China on August 30 and was consigned to RZTREC Trading. BOC is further carrying the investigations.

A few months ago, the Philippines Government had seized 1,100 metric tons (MT) smuggled sugar from Thailand at Subic port. The shipments were consigned to JRFP International Trading, which holds office in Tondo, Manila.
