RLD activists protest against pending cane arrears

Meerut, Uttar Pradesh: While Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday visited Saharanpurto review Covid-19 situation and the meeting was going on, several RLD activists raised slogans protesting against the pending cane dues to farmers.

According to the news report published in The Times Of India, RLD organisational general secretary Raj Kumar Sangwan attacked the government over pending cane arrears saying this government has failed on every front. The RLD activists even jostled with police trying to enter the venue of meeting at the Saharanpur Circuit House.

Sugarcane farmers claim they are reeling under financial burden due to a delay in cane payments. 

According to the Government, it is closely monitoring the daily cane payments by sugar mills and ensuring that mills pay on time to cane growers. The lockdown imposed by the government to prevent the spread of Coronavirus pandemic has also affected many sugar mills across India. Mills claim lack of finance has affected them in clearing the cane arrears.
