Sathiaon sugar mill to clear cane dues next week

Sathiaon: According to the news report published in Livehindustan.com, the Sathiaon sugar mill is likely to clear pending cane dues of around Rs 66 crore to the cane farmers next week. Farmers have not received payment for few months.

The mill has started preparations to clear the cane dues.

Deputy manager Narendra Kumar Yadav said that those farmers that have sent their cane to the mill for the 2020-21 season may get their pending cane dues next week.

According to the news report published in the Business standard, sugarcane arrears have reached around 21,321 crores by May 2021 with Uttar Pradesh topping the list. In the crushing season 2020-21, 63 per cent of the total pending cane dues are from Uttar Pradesh and the remaining are from Maharashtra, Karnataka and other states.

Sugarcane farmers said that due to pending cane dues they are suffering from the financial crisis. Whereas sugar mills claim low sugar sales have affected their business and therefore they failed to accumulate the capital and failed to clear the cane dues on time.
