Mumbai: The BSE Sensex closed today at 38,823.11 rising 266.07 points. Similarly, Nifty surge 84 points at 11,582.90.
Top losers in the Sensex pack included ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, NTPC, and Tech Mahindra falling up to 1.27 per cent.
Hero Moto Corp, IndusInd Bank, Tata Motors, and Vedanta were among the top gainers today rising up to 4.46 per cent.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee appreciated 14 paise to 68.43 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading o.61 per cent higher at 67.42 per barrel.
