Sensex ends 189 points down; Nifty below 11,050

Mumbai: After gains in the first two days, on Wednesday markets closed in the negative zone.

Sensex today on 28th August 2019 ended 189.43 points lower at 37,451.84. Similarly, NSE Nifty ended 59.25 points down at 11,046.10.

HCL Tech, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, HDFC, TCS and Asian Paint were among the top gainers today rising up to 2.61 per cent.

Top losers in the Sensex pack included Yes Bank, Vedanta, Tata Steel, Tata Motors, ONGC, M&M, Maruti, NTPC, HUL, IndusInd Bank, Heromoto Corp and Kotak Bank, falling up to 7.47 per cent.

In the previous season on August 27, Sensex ended 147.15 points higher at 37,641.27. Similarly, NSE Nifty ended 47.50 points up at 11,105.35.

On the currency front, the Indian rupee was trading 27 paise lower at 71.75 against the US dollar.

The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 1.07 per cent higher to USD 59.66 per barrel.
