Sensex ends 193 points higher; Nifty above 12,050

Mumbai: Sensex closed on January 7, 2020, at 192.84 points higher at 40,869.47. Similarly, Nifty ended 59.90 points up at 12,052.95.

Gains in realty, banking and metal stocks pushed the domestic markets higher. In terms of index contribution, HDFC twins, Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Asian Paints emerged featured at the top.

In the previous season, Sensex closed on January 6, 2020, at 787.98 points lower at 40,676.63 as the United States and Iran escalated their threats against each other the subsequent impact on global markets. Similarly, Nifty ended 233.60 points down at 11,993.05.
