Sensex ends 52 points lower; Nifty below 12,030

Mumbai: Sensex closed on January 8, 2020, at 51.73 points lower at 40,817.74. Similarly, Nifty ended 27.60 points down at 12,025.35.

Bharti Airtel, TCS, Yes Bank, UltraTech Cement and UPL were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were Eicher Motors, Coal India, L&T, IOC and ONGC.

In the previous season, Sensex closed on January 7, 2020, at 192.84 points higher at 40,869.47. Similarly, Nifty ended 59.90 points up at 12,052.95.

The rupee is trading at 71.750 against the dollar.
