Mumbai: Sensex ended 52.16 points higher at 37,402.49. Similarly, NSE Nifty ended 6.10 points up at 11,053.90.
Sun Pharma, TechM, Axis Bank, L&T, Reliance Industries and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers today rising up to 2.66 per cent.
Top losers in the Sensex pack included Yes Bank, PowerGrid, ONGC, SBI, Mahindra and Mahindra, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Asian Paints and HDFC Bank falling up to 3.46 per cent.
On the currency front, the Indian rupee was trading 30 paise low at 71.46 against the US dollar.
The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.56 per cent higher to USD 58.97 per barrel.
