The Indian equities ended lower the eighth straight session on Friday, tracking weak cues from Asian peers. 22 stocks out of 30 stocks closed in the red on Sensex. On the NSE Nifty, out of 50, 34 stocks ended in negative terrain on the NSE Nifty.

At close, the Sensex was down 95.92 points at 37,462.99, while Nifty was down 22.90 points at 11,278.90.

On the global front, the Asian stocks traded marginally lower owing to the negative closing at Wall Street in overnight trade as investors weighed US President Donald Trump’s decision to increase 25 per cent traffic on USD 200 billion worth of Chinese goods.

Taking a glance on the sectoral front, Realty closed flat, which happened to be the top gaining sector for the day, PSU Bank was gaining over 2 percent, followed by Media and Financial Service indices each gaining over 0.50 per cent. Metal and IT were diving lower over 1 per cent each, followed by Pharma, FMCG and Auto sectors.
