Sensex falls over 200 points

Mumbai: Sensex today was trading 205.69 points lower at 37,275.43 in morning trade. On the other hand, the NSE Nifty today slipped 16.15 points at 11,069.25.

Yesterday, soon after the news of Cafe Coffee Day owner’s death, it shocked investors, following which it led them to sell the CCD stocks. It fell by 20 per cent to Rs 123.25 per share.

Power Grid, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, Asian Paint, Maruti and HCL Tech were among the top gainers on the NSE.

Vedanta, Tech Mahindra, Yes Bank, Tata Motors and Tata steel were among the top losers.

On the currency front, the Indian rupee fell 32 paise to 69.12 against the US dollar.

The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.70 per cent higher at 65.17 per barrel.
