Sensex, Nifty open higher as BJP takes lead in assembly polls

Mumbai: Market open higher on October 24, 2019, amid ongoing counting for assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana in which BJP seems to lead to victory.

Sensex today on Thursday was trading 143.09 higher at 39,201.92, while NSE Nifty surged 30.10 points at 11,634.20 in morning trade.

Similarly, at 10:13 am, Sensex was trading at 39,126 points, and Nifty was trading at 11,619 points.

TechM, Tata Motors, L&T, Vedanta, Yes Bank, ITC, Bajaj Auto, HDFC twins and Kotak Bank were among the top gainers.

Bharti Airtel, Infosys, ONGC, PowerGrid, Bajaj Finance and Hero MotoCorp were among the top losers.

On the currency front, the rupee appreciated 7 paise against the US dollar to trade at 70.84 in early session.
