Sensex, Nifty start on a cautious note

Mumbai: Ahead of Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell testimony before the US Congress, Domestic equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty started on a cautious note tracking mixed cues from Asian markets.

The BSE Sensex was trading at 33.76 points lower at 38,697.06 at 9.30 am. Similarly Nifty fell 5.70 points to 11,551.70.

Top losers in the Sensex pack included TCS, Bajaj Finance, Bharti Airtel, Tata Motors, ONGC falling up to 1.51 per cent.

Yes Bank, HCL Tech, TechM, Infosys and Asian Paints were among the top gainers, rising up to 1.53 per cent.

On the currency front, the Indian rupee fell 15 paise to 68.66 against the US dollar.

The global oil benchmark Brent crude futures were trading 0.89 per cent higher at 64.73 per barrel.
